Hello everybody, my name is Márcio and I'm the representative of Portugal. This is my first news so, I'll put you up about what's going on in Portugal about ESC 2012. Festival da Canção has been used to select Portugal' song in Eurovision since their debut in 1964 (only in 2002, 2004 and 2005 wasn't used). But this year, RTP (our broadcaster) has some new ideas to try to win something more than the passage to the finals. First of all, they invited everyone to appear in castings in Lisbon and Porto, and also invited known portuguese singers to send a cd with some of their musics. Portugal already knows the people who was selected on the castings. But now, we need the song! RTP is inviting, by now, composers and songwriters to do their best to find a good song for ESC. Then, all what the selected singers have to do is sing that song and try to get the most points! Only in 10 March we will know the successor of "Homens da Luta", which performance I left to you to hear: _On last monday, TRT, Turkish national broadcaster, announced their representative. After a long rumour period about Turkish representative, finally the subject is clear now. His name is Can Bonomo who will try to get the first victory to Turkey in this decade. It is surprising decision on account of that his name was never spoken about Eurovision. Besides, He has just an album; thus, he had not been so popular until TRT's announcement. Can makes music by mixing rock, pop and Turkish traditional music. He calls the style as "İstanbul style". Generally, he has unusual clips and songs. Although he is only 24 years old, he is talented in not only music but also art and theatre. Now he is composing three songs for Eurovision. And in February, one of them will be selected so as to represent Turkey. Hi everyone! This is Yerevan calling!
You might say... Hey, isn't just Florin who can post here?... Well, from now on, Armenia's able to do it too! Weebly (that is somehow, our official sponsor, if you know what I mean) has made a gift to this page, and now we're able to use many PRO features, including this one... the possibility of having more than one poster. Isn't that just great? Well.... That's not the only thing that has turned into PRO. The contest itself is turning PRO.... The wikia is still underway, but it's going to look great; the Armenian delegation points mid-February as the release date. The webmaster also told us that many submissions are arriving (some of them not taking into account the rules) and we could have even 40 countries participating! As also something new, the idea of holding diverse National Finals (remember that the only NFs so far have been hosted by Romania (EM11) and Armenia (EM02, EM11)) is taking shape. Armenia has proposed a simple and effective system: * You, on an e-mail, ask Armenia to hold a National Final for you. You can also ask for a recap, if you want to. * After all the NFs info has been collected, Armenia will send in just ONE e-mail (to prevent you from receiving a lot) with the information of all the national finals to be hosted. * Armenia will collect the votes through either e-mail, or a custom form; and at the end, right before the submissions for the next EM edition are finished, the results will be shown in just ONE e-mail. The idea has yet to be totally accepted by the webmaster, but we think we might have a chance to do this. Plus, Armenia proposes a website (here on Weebly too) for those delegations that don't want to have a site of their own (like Armenia, Romania or Turkey) but that do want to have somewhere to post news or the NFs. In other news, Eurovision Memories will participate in Online Music Extravaganza, a contest that gathers the best songs from many other online contests (currently, on its fifth edition). This will be very helpful as it will promote a contest, and it will be another way to show the best of the songs that have been performed here. We can only submit 3 songs, and preparations for a mini-contest to select those 3 songs are underway. Stay tuned for more news! Last night was a blast! Many of our members joined the chat and all hoped to get a win. The scoreboard for EM 10 was released at 17:10 CET and everyone watched the votes coming and in the end....Finland won EM 10 with 138 points, a new record in the history of our contest. A total of 25 countries took part at EM 10 but only 16 qualified for the Grand Final. Top 5 of EM 09 automatically qualified for the final and top 10 semifinalist won their ticket to the final. A last second chance was launched and Latvia won the right to enter the final. Indeed Finland was among the favorites to win EM 10 but nobody expected it! Armenia and Iceland were confident to get a win but instead they ended in top 5! The Final results are: 01. Finland 138 02. Monaco 130 03. Armenia 124 04. Iceland 110 05. United Kingdom 110 06. Norway 102 07. Romania 95 08. Netherlands 89 09. Spain 81 10. Denmark 76 11. Sweden 70 12. Azerbaijan 69 13. Latvia 61 14. Hungary 54 15. Ukraine 46 16. Cyprus ( HOST ) 37 The scoreboard "suffered" some modifications and now it looks more cool and perfect for our contest. Sadly political voting couldn't be avoided this time too, but we're trying to do what we can to stop this. EM 10 Semifinal results will be revealed today, after 22:00 CET!
