Earlier this week the Swedish delegation presented the host city as well as the logo for the upcoming edition, EM 26. The 26th edition of Eurovision Memories Song Contest will be held in the second largest city of Sweden, Gothenburg.
Gothenburg is located on the west coast, in southwestern Sweden and with more than 900.000 inhabitants within the metropolitan area, which makes Gothenburg the second largest city by population in Sweden.
The city was formed back in 1621 by the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus (Gustav Adolf II) and is strategically located between the capitals of Denmark and Norway and is also one of the most important gateways to the west from Sweden. The plan of the street and canals in Gothenburg is built by the Dutch and resembles a lot to the canals in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Gothenburg is also known by hosting some of the biggest annual music festivals in Scandinavia, such as Way Out West and Metaltown. Gothia Cup, which is the biggest football tournament in the world is being held in the city every year.
This is the official logo of EM 26, it's the same butterfly as in the official logo for Eurovision Song Contest 2013 which is being held in Malmö, Sweden.
