From 12 songs competing, we already know the titles of 7 of them. As I told you before, this time, the broadcaster invited composers to write musics to 12 selected singers. So far, the list:
02. Pedro Macedo - "Outono em Forma de Gente" ("Autumn in Human Form") 03. Tó Martins - "Amanhã Começa o Meu Futuro" ("Tomorrow Starts My Future") 04. Gerson Santos - "Redescobri Portugal" ("Rediscover Portugal") 06. Pamela Salvado - "Fica a Saudade" ("Nostalgia Stays") 07. Cúmplices - "Será o que Será" ("Will Be What Will Be") 08. Arménio Pimenta - "Um Poema na Bagagem" ("A Poem in the Luggage") 09. Carlos Costa - "Queres Que Eu Dance?" ("Do You Want Me To Dance?") 11. Rui Andrade - "Amor a Preto e Branco" ("Love in Black And White") All songs will be inspired on fado (recently made Intangible Heritage Of Humanity). Sílvia Alberto and Pedro Granger will be the presenters of the final. In 2012, Baku will host the 57th Eurovision Song Contest. Forty-three countries will try to get the right to host the next edition. Some countries already have selected their songs, others are selecting and other don't think about it yet. Here I'm going to show you the already chosen songs. Switzerland: The first country to show who's going to represent it in Baku. Sinplus with "Unbreakable". Albania: This time, Albania sends something different from the past two years. Sung in Albanian and in a new language in Eurovision: Latin! Rona Nishliu with "Suus" ("Personal") Iceland: From the North, comes Greta Salóme & Jónsi with "Mundu Eftir Mér" ("Remember Me") Montenegro: After a 2 years abcense, Montenegro returns with Rambo Amadeus with "Euro Neuro". We don't have yet the song available. But the song wasn't presented to the public yet. Macedonia: The country puts their hopes on a former representer in ESC, Kaliopi (she entered in 1996, but hadn't passed the qualification) with the song "Black and White". The song wasn't presented to the public yet. Malta: One of the most successeful countries without a win tries to get it with Kurt Calleja singing "This is The Night" Norway: The Melodi Grand Prix finally ended and we have Tooji representing Norway with "Stay" France: Like in 2008, France goes for a dual-language song: French and English. Anggun will sing "Echo (You and I)". Belgium: The representant singer will be Iris.
Serbia: Zeliko Joksimovic, who represented Serbia & Montenegro in 2004, will represent Serbia this year. Bosnia & Herzegovina: MayaSar will be the representant. Croatia: Nina Badric will represent the country in Baku. Turkey: The country will be represented by Can Bonomo. Spain: Pastora Soler will sing for Spain this edition. Hope to see more updates :D I had some little free time, so I made the history of Eurovision Memories in maps. So, let's start: EM01: The countries that started Eurovision Memories, broadcasted from Arad, Romania. Debuting Countries: Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic, Latvia, Romania, Greece, Ukraine and Turkey. EM02: Broadcasted from Yerevan, Armenia, this edition saw the entrance of 5 new countries, but also the exit of 3 countries. Debuting Countries: Spain, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, Israel, Azerbaijan Withdrawing Countries: Sweden, Czech Republic, Latvia EM03: This time, EM travelled to Amsterdam, Netherlands with 7 new countries participating and other 3 going out. Latvia stays out for the 2nd time consecutive. Red countries hadn't passed the semi-final. Debuting Countries: Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Croatia, Finland, Russia Returning Countries: Sweden, Czech Republic Withdrawing Countries: Spain, Azerbaijan, Norway EM04: Broadcasted from Istambul, Turkey, the number of participations was maintained in 21, with 3 new countries and 3 countries out. Debuting Countries: Italy, Moldova, Cyprus Withdrawing Countries: Ireland, France, Croatia EM05: This time, that EM was hosted in Stockholm, Sweden, the contest had a decline in the number of participants. Estonia debuted, France returned, but 7 countries gone out! Debuting Countries: Estonia Returning Countries: France Withdrawing Contries: Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Russia, Cyprus, Israel EM06: EM gone to San Remo, Italy. Maintains the number of participants by 15, with no debuting countries. But nearly before the show, Cyprus gone out. Returning Countries: Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Georgia Withdrawing Countries: France, Germany, Slovenia, Moldova, Finland, Estonia, Cyprus EM07: After the dual-victory between Italy and Turkey, EM maintained in Italy and Rome was the host city. Serbia debuted in this edition. Debuting Countries: Serbia Returning Countries: Spain, Norway, Finland, Cyprus Withdrawing Countries: Slovakia, Georgia EM08: EM returned to his origins, broadcaster from Bucharest, Romania. Small changes of countries this edition. Returning Countries: Azerbaijan Withdrawing Countries: Czech Republic, Serbia EM09: When EM travelled to Bath, United Kingdom, no country gone out! Only returning and debuting countries! Red countries hadn't passed the semi-finals. Debuting Countries: Hungary, Belarus, Iceland Returning Countries: Ireland, France, Slovenia, Croatia EM10: Cyprus hosts this edition in Nicosia and Latvia returns after 8 editions out of the contest! Debuting Countries: Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Andorra, Monaco Returning Countries: Slovakia, Serbia, Latvia Withdrawing Countries: Ireland, France, Belarus, Slovenia, Croatia EM11: This time, Helsinki, Finland hosted EM with many old participates returning. This was the first year that had Second Chance Voting. The light green countries are those who passed that. Debuting Countries: Portugal, Albania Returning Countries: France, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Croatia, Estonia, Moldavia Withdrawing Countries: Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina EM12: At this time, this was the edition with more participants: 35! Russia hadn't gave points for the semi-final, so it was desqualified. Debuting Countries: Belgium, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Lithuania Returning Countries: Israel Withdrawing Countries: Andorra, Switzerland, Hungary, Russia So, as you can see, we still have some countries which never debuted: Malta, Austria, Montenegro and Macedonia. Vatican City, Liechenstein and San Marino would be more difficult, unless the nationality rule would be lifted for these countries.
Some questions: - Should Kosovo participated apart of Serbia? Some contests already allow that. - As we are a kind of "copy" of Eurovision Song Contest, shouldn't we allow the northern african countries and those from the Middle East who are close to the Mediterranium. The ones I'm talking are Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lybia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and, in other case, Palestine. It was a point to discuss, but I'm sure we'll decide the best way. I think Eurovision Memories Season 1 reached it's peak, as Netherlands announced as the winner of Malmö 12 as the closing of the first season. BUT, we still continue with the second season! And we still have more funny things...as the fun facts are coming up! Here is the list of somehow...many fun facts that you'll find out after! ;)
