Armenia won the 45th Edition of the Eurovision Memories Song Contest with a total of 182 points, exactly on the date when we celebrated three years of Eurovision Memories when Armenia won for the first time ever. Tamar Kaprelian was the artist who brought Armenia this amazing joy and the third win tonight, she was born in Scottsdale, Arizona to Armenian parents, but she grew up in Georgia and California. Kaprelian is her mother’s maiden name and she chose it in honor of her grandfather who died a few years before her career began. Tamar is incredibly proud of her heritage and she wants people to know that she is an Armenian. Her great-grandparents are from Old Armenia. On her mother's side of the family, her grandfather Girair Kaprelian was born in Kharpert and her grandmother Hasmik Kaprelian was born in Mousel. They met in Iraq, where her grandfather owned a successful textile manufacturing business in the Middle East. On her father's side, her grandfather George Mardirossian was born in Jerusalem and her grandmother Victoria Ewin was born in Liverpool. They met in Egypt and moved to Manchester where they started an Armenian hotel/restaurant. Her parents, Avedis and Silva Mardirossian, met in Manchester and moved to the United States (Scottsdale, Arizona), where they raised her brother and her. Her interest in music began when she discovered the works of Billy Joel and Paul McCartney, although she also cites classic Disney film songs as an early influence. Kaprelian won the OneRepublic "Apologize" Cover Contest in March 2008, and as a reward, Ryan Tedder helped bring her to the attention of Interscope Records which signed her shortly afterward. WAX LTD produced her song "New Day," which went on to be her first single, and her first album Sinner or a Saint on Interscope records was released August 24, 2010. During 2010, she performed Dev's part of "Like a G6" with The Far East Movement at selected live performances. Her first EP, California, was released on June 19, 2012. It's been three years of joy, musical discoveries, friendships, drama moments but the most important thing is that we're still here, celebrating our third anniversary together. Eurovision Memories is not just a Song Contest, it's a family. A Eurovision family that is connected together by the love for this amazing experience called Eurovision, a family that has grown a lot during the years. The Eurovision Memories Team wishes everyone from the EM family a sincere Happy EM Day. We love you all and thank you for being with us since 2011.
It isn't known yet what surprises are being prepared by the EM Team, but the expectations are high and the preparations don't stop. An exact time for the show hasn't been published yet, but it is speculated that it will take place around 21:00 CET. The running order for the voting has been determined taking two parameters in mind: for the first part (eleven countries), the running order will mimic that of EM01, with the addition of the United Kingdom, as it is represented by one of our most loyal players, Ross Carter. For the rest of the countries, the running order was established so as not to make the winner evident from the start... And it worked! The top 10 is ever-changing!
