Interview with Morten Seest (Denmark)

A few weeks ago we made an interview with our friend from Denmark. Enjoy!



1. How did you join EM? How did you find out about EM?

A Romanian guy called Florin somehow got hold of my mail address and asked me to join his new game. Because of the name "Eurovision Memories", I thought that I was supposed to send old NF songs from Denmark to the contest - so I started out with some shitty results.   

2. Did you discover new music at EM? Name some of your favourite songs?

My big favourite is Caro Emerald with A Night Like This (Netherlands 12), I still listen to it on a weekly basis. I’ve discovered a lot of other great songs, though. Just to mention a few: Frankfurt Oder (Germany 05), La Primavera (Spain 09), Kick the Bucket (UK 11) Nim Zawitnie Tysiac Roz (Poland 16) and Saro Libera (Italy 17).

3. What do you like most about EM? 

Whenever a new edition of EM begins and I get to listen to 30-40 songs that are brand new to me. It’s like Christmas eve – sometimes you get excited and other times, you just want to throw your presents out of the window and go to bed. Nevertheless, EM is a perfect opportunity to discover great music from all over Europe. Also, it’s always fun to be on the EM chat.

4. Are you happy with the results and voting system in general? 

The voting system (including the semi-finals and the second chance contest) seems fair to me, I see no reason to change that. Regarding the results, I’ve been in every final except one, so I can’t complain.    

5. Do you think that this contest can be improved? How?

 
Skip The Music Awards, I don’t care if I win an award or not and I’m pretty sure that the other contestants feel the same way. Other than that, I think that both semi-finals should be held on the same night instead of two nights in a row. I think that more people would join the chat that way.       

6. What do you think about the Web-masters? 

I hope that people appreciates all the time and efforts that the Web-masters put into EM. Also, I like that they’re not being sloppy towards people who tries to cheat or people who doesn’t vote on time, that’s necessary to make the competition work. They’re usually pretty nice guys, though ;-)     

7. Has EM influenced somehow your life?

I’ve made great friendships with some of the other contestants. And besides discovering music from other countries, EM has improved my knowledge of upcoming artists from Denmark. I’m much more interested in Danish music than I was a year ago.
