Today we managed to talk a little with our broadcaster from Armenia. Find out what he thinks about EM
How did you joined EM? How did you find out about EM? On the online contests atmosphere, there is always an e-mail that arrives to you saying "new contest". Around that time (a year ago), I was very passionate about these contests, and I saw that Florin, who was representing Sweden in the Eurovision Dream Contest was opening a new one, because of the situation of the latter (it froze out). I decided to give it a go, and I remember I was the third applicant (according to the news in the page). I waited.... I didn't want this to be another contest with just 5 signups. At the end, we were 12. And well.... The rest is history already written. Did you discover new music at EM? Name some of your favourite songs Tons of new music! Despite the fact that I represent Armenia, I live in South America.... My roots are in the tripartite Amazon jungle (Peru, Colombia, Brazil); and the music is totally different here. Thanks to EM, I've been able to fill up my music library with lots of good music. My favourite songs include some I had already known before.... "Im Anunë Hayastan E" by Inga & Anush, "Erotas" by Sirusho, "Menq Enq Mer Sarerë" by Inga & Anush, "Simarik" by Tarkan, "La Niña que llora en tus fiestas" by La Oreja de Van Gogh, "Set Fire to the Rain" by Adele, "Zmorem" by Maja Keuc, "Sinéad" by Within Temptation, "La Primavera" by Estopa, and "A Night Like This" by Caro Emerald. But I also have favourites that I met thanks to this amazing contest... "Here I Am" by Sertab Erener, "Soulman" by Ben L'Oncle Soul, "Colt de Suflet" by Andra and Adi Cristescu, "Start Without You" by Alexandra Burke & Laza Morgan, "Pupsik" by Tina Karol, "Pleaca" by Vunk & Antonia, "Je Veux" by Zaz, "La Jument de Michao" by Nolwenn Leroy... "Whoop It Up" by Annalise Ellul (although that was entirely thanks to Florin, before it participated)- Thanks to the contest I also got to meet artists like Gökce, Estopa, Cem Adrian, Sunrise Avenue and A'STUDIO. Oh, I also remember that thanks to EM I finally knew the title of "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree".... Somehow I've known the tune of that song since I can remember.... But I never had the title or the lyrics :(. What do you like most about EM? The fact that we're a community, and we have special webpages... And the way finals are conducted. I mean, everything is quite different from other contests, and that's what makes this one special. Overall, the feeling of a real community behind the contest is the centerpiece of it all. Are you happy with the results and voting system in general? Totally! Except with the thing you guys are proposing about a bonus of 12 points. I find it unfair, as it is basically the result of luck. Do you think that this contest can be improved? How? I really think that the project I wanted to start (the history of EM) or the wikia... (Whose preparations I halted because of my occupations) would be a great addition. I actually want to go back to that work in December, if you must know. Another thing would be releasing a mail bulletin with the info about the national finals.... Not everyone looks everyday at the facebook page, and the organizers of each NF need the votes, don't they? What do you think about the Web-masters? Everyone that has acted as a web-master at least once has been very responsible. They've totally earned their spot. Did EM influenced somehow your life? Yes.... I'm a music-addict.... And EM is my main 'drug' source! Also, I've been able to meet a lot of interesting and nice people from all over Europe. On another note I must tell you three things: * From now on, the Armenian votes will be announced on a video where I appear as spokesperson... Like in the real Eurovision! * From now on, Armenia will update constantly its page, and we'll held national finals! * Thank you very much for this interview.... and for the Eurovision Memories! Long live the fantastic five! Long live Eurovision Memories!
